Betty Jean (Rodgers) Boyce, age 77, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Fox Trail Assisted Living in Stephens City.
Betty Jean was born in 1941 in Winchester, the daughter of the late Wallace W. “Buddy” Rodgers and Marguerite Virginia (Kidwell) Rodgers. Before her retirement, Betty Jean was employed in the accounting department at Project HOPE. She was employed for several years as bookkeeper for Jim Myers at Valley Cycle Center, Inc. Betty Jean attended the Church of Christ at Mountain View. She served on the board of directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of South End Fire Company, volunteered for the Shelter for Abused Women, and was secretary for the Shawquon Ruritan in Stephens City.
Betty Jean married Donald “Donnie” Eugene Boyce on May 23, 1959 in Hagerstown Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Betty Jean is survived by her children, Donna Jean Boyce Robinson, Randall “Randy” Keith Boyce (Beverly) and Shelley Chandler Boyce Pitta (Randy); four grandchildren, Rory Shaun Robinson (Tamara), Shanon Lynn Abell, Amber Leigh Boyce, and Falon Ashley Pitta Hudson (Johnathan); three great grandchildren, Cambden Michael Abell, Harper Jean Hudson, and Bohen James Francis Hudson; her sister, Joyce Yost (Sam); and two brothers, Phillip Rodgers (Juanita) and Marc Rodgers (Judy).
In addition to her parents and husband of 48 years, Betty Jean is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Eva Joyce Kidwell and her beloved niece, Sadie Kay Yost.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday from 12:00 until 1:00 pm at Omps South Chapel with the funeral service conducted at 1:00 pm with Pastor Harry Neidig, III officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Randy Pitta, Marc Rodgers, Sam Yost, Silas Yost, Kenneth Pitta, and Johnathan Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton R. Ritter and Julian Sirbaugh.
