Briana “Bri” Marie Bertolini, 26, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at her residence.
Briana was born in 1991 in Fulda, Germany, the daughter of Colonel Mark and Barbara Bertolini. She was a graduate of Woodson High School, Class of 2009 and attended Old Dominion University where she was a sister of Alpha Phi Sorority. Bri had been employed at Adams & Garth Staffing Agency and most recently Tilton Enterprises in Human Resources and Marketing. Briana was a loving daughter, sister and friend to so many. She can forever be remembered for her one of a kind smile, sense of humor and genuine compassion for all those around her as well as being a true free spirit who accepted everyone. She had a devoted love of music, art, animals and above all her family and friends. Bri especially adored her two cats, Oliver and Tarzan. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving with her parents is a brother, Mark A. Bertolini Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia; maternal grandmother, Virginia D’Achille of Nutley, New Jersey; and paternal grandmother, Anna Bertolini of Denville, New Jersey as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Briana was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Cesare Bertolini.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm with Funeral Celebrant Joseph R. Dilleree and Funeral Celebrant Timothy L. Grum officiating. A reception will follow at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel.
Memorial contributions in memory of Bri may be made to Edgehill Recovery Retreat, 315 East Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601 or to any Substance Abuse Program of donor’s choice.

As I said before, there are not adequate words in the world to address your deep sadness, but your friends and family will certainly try to express what they feel for you and Briana's passing. Mike and I have just known you a brief time, but in it we have had the opportunity to share some of each other's struggles and triumphs as they relate to our children. I loved the quote in the video "fall down 7 times and get up 8." That is really what struggle is about - trying to rise from them. Struggle is certainly tragic, but not rising from them is the bigger tragedy. We will cherish our time here at Army North with you both and miss you when we retire to different parts of the country. You and Mark came here, made your mark and the place is much better for it. Thank you for your friendship and support. Let others be that support for you now. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." We pray comfort for you and the rest of your family and those who knew Briana best.

We never got the opportunity to meet Briana, but her parents spoke of her during our conversations. We have always admired this family. This evening we watched the tribute video, read messages, and we can tell that Briana was a very loved girl. What a beautiful smile and eyes that tell a tale in each picture - without the need for words. Our hearts are broken about your family's sadness, but we are assured, by Faith, that the video we just watched is just chapter one of this beautiful soul's story.

Truth be told, there are no words that I can say that will take away your pain; however, you will have the memory of looking into her eyes and having taken in her smiles that will help to carry you through. Dear Barbara, Words cannot express our deepest sympathy in the passing of your daughter. I did not have the pleasure of knowing her but with you as her Mother she had to be a special young lady. When a parent buries a child you lose a part of you. People tell you time will heal but it might heal but the hurt does not go away. It is now 45years since Mark has left us and it seems like only yesterday. I wlll say when Karen blessed us with David it was like a light came into our lives. You start to see some of Marks traits in him. But everyone is there ownself. If you should ever want to just chat please I am only a phone call away. I interviewed Briana on Skype a few weeks ago and we were so impressed by her bright and cheerful Erica Knoch personality, we hired her on the spot and she started work a week later. She fit right in and we all felt very fortunate to have found her. When Briana mentioned she wanted a place to live by herself with her 2 cats, I immediately asked my wife, a realtor, to begin hunting for a place as I new she make such a wonderful tenant.
