Charles “Chuck” Oscar Brannon, 90, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, at his home.
Mr. Brannon was born in 1928 in Virginia, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Brannon. He was employed at Valley Protein as a mechanic, retiring in 1988. Mr. Brannon’s passion was dirt track racing. He was a former member of The Moose and enjoyed NASCAR, favorite driver being the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He attended Open Door Baptist Church. A loving and caring father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother that is missed.
His wife, Luella Brannon, whom he married on August 18, 1960 in Elkins, West Virginia, preceded him in death in 2011.
Surviving is a son, Kenneth Brannon (Rose) of Moorefield, West Virginia; daughter-in-law, Lydia Brannon; daughter-in-law, Brenda Brannon; sister, Winnette K. Brannon of Front Royal, Virginia; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife, Luella, Mr. Brannon was preceded in death by daughter, Rose Brannon Seals Mongold; son, Paul “Buggs” Brannon; son, Steve Brannon; sisters, Lucille Brannon-Marple, Marie Allison, and Nannie D. Unger; brothers, Hugh and Ben Brannon.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
