Conrad Edmund Koneczny passed away peacefully May 19, 2017 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Facility to an eternal life with God.
He was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1933 and immigrated to the United States in 1939.
Conrad proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He established several successful businesses. He loved his work, was creative and philanthropic.
Conrad was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester, was on the Board of Trustees at Randolph-Macon Academy and was a member of the Rotary Club of Winchester. He was Santa for 15 years in the Winchester Christmas Parade and participated in various community charitable events.
Surviving with his wife of 27 years, Robin, are four daughters, Kathleen (Patrick) of Haymarket, VA, Karen (John) of Denver, CO, Cynthia of Arvada, CO and Kristen (Devwon) of Manassas, VA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin (Anna) Joshua of Fairfax County, Ryan and Jonathon of Denver, CO, Avery and Aidan of Manassas, VA and three great grandchildren, Berlin Mae and Oliver of Denver, CO and Langston of Fairfax, VA. He was also blessed with two step-daughters who became a great part of his life, Liza of Santa Monica, CA and Deanna of Falls Church, VA. Also surviving are brothers, Andre (Lois) of Fairfax, VA and Paul (L’Oriãnne) of Overland Park, KS as well as his wonderful dog and faithful companion, Kasia.
Conrad was preceded in death by a brother, Lennart (Betty) in 2015.
A funeral service and inurnment will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church, Winchester, VA with Reverend Webster Gibson officiating. A reception will follow at the church.

I knew Conrad mostly through his association with Randolph-Macon Academy. He was a tremendous supporter of the school that he loved. He gave liberally, attend events, served on the Board of Trustees and was a strong and effective leader. Conrad truly believed in the school and its values and showed this through loyalty and devotion. He impacted the school in a most positive way for many, many years. Conrad was such a dear friend for over twenty years. We first met Conrad when we moved to Winchester and he helped us find a home for our family. Throughout the years he was a great friend and support for me and my entire family. I will always remember his kindness and his passion for life. Our thoughts and prayers for Robin and their entire family.

Conrad was the first person to welcome us to the community 21 years ago, and we treasure his friendship. Santa's sleigh had an off season home with us for years, and the spirit of giving that it represented was concordant with the stewardship that Conrad exemplified. It was an honor to be counted as friends, and we are very saddened about his passing. His faith and appreciation for his life were remarkable.

We are so very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

My sincere condolences to friend, Robin, and the family of one of the most memorable gentlemen I've ever had the good fortune to know. Having had a number of interests and life experiences in common, we engaged in many enjoyable conversations and consultations over the years. "Doc" had a generous heart and gave much of himself to many. He was an encompassing thinker, with a quick wit, and did not suffer fools gladly My final R-MA salute to you, "old man", and thanks for the memories. See you on the other side, sir friend.

God will be smiling as He welcomes our brother Conrad into His presence and into His loving arms. Conrad used his life to show us all how to live a life of service to others and what God's love on this earth looks like when it walks among us. He will be missed here but never forgotten. Rest well Conrad. You earned it my friend.

Conrad was dedicated to many organizations; I knew him through Rotary, and enjoyed our discussions. May his soul rest in peace, and his family feel God's presence in their mourning.

To a wonderful man that gave my daughter a chance at a good position and his wife who showed her friendship thru the past few years. Rest In Peace. Thank you.

It is sad day learning of your departure from this world but a glorious day with you entering into the Kingdom of God. Robin may all of God's blessings be yours. Having been on the Alumni board with you for so many years you showed and taught me so much. So hard to believe you and Art are teamed up again. Rest well

My sincere condolences to the family of one of the kindest gentleman I had the honor of knowing. Conrad was always kind to me, and even sought me out, when he visited R-MA, as well as at Rotary events. His heart was as big as his gentle soul. See you on the other side, my friend.

God is smiling as He welcomes our brother Conrad into His loving arms. Few men have demonstrated so well what the love of God looks like as Conrad did in his life among us. He touched our hearts and minds in ways we could not find without his help and he changed each of us for the better by doing so.
