Mr. Curtis “Curt” H. Nesselrodte, 87, of Frederick County, Virginia died Monday, July 11, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Mr. Nesselrodte was born in 1929 in Cabins, West Virginia, the son of the late George and Beatrice Nesselrodte. He moved from Petersburg, West Virginia to Frederick County, Virginia to work in the apple orchards. Following this he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After being discharged from the Army, Curt worked at Fairchild Corporation in Hagerstown, Maryland and Martinsburg, West Virginia building airplanes. Following that, he applied what he had learned in the Army while working for the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) on the high tension electric towers. From that point until he was into his 80s, he was operating heavy equipment under his business, Curtis H. Nesselrodte Contracting.
Curt was always so cautious in collecting and keeping “things” that he “might use one day or someone else might have a need for”. He loved to go to auctions and trade services for goods, as well as buying and rebuilding heavy equipment. Curt had many friends of all ages, from young to old, and enjoyed his time with them – whether it be sitting under his shade trees or just having a drink with them. He enjoyed dancing and having a couple drinks. Curt was a member of the Winchester Moose, Eagle’s Club, VFW, and Elks.
