Danny Gordon Funkhouser, II, 38, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Danny was born in 1980 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Katherine A. Funkhouser and the late Danny G. Funkhouser. He was a graduate of Sherando High School, Class of 1998 and was a successful owner/operator of MKR Home Improvements. Danny was a master carpenter that delivered the highest quality work and had a special connection with his clients. He and his family were involved with Special Love, Inc. (a non-profit organization for children with cancer) and would always attend the Joan Hisaoka “Make a Difference” Gala in Washington, D.C. Danny connected spiritually through music, especially through Phish and the Grateful Dead. Traveling to live shows was one of his greatest joys. Above all else, his love and passion was for his children and spending time with family. Danny played a very significant and influential role in the lives of many people. He would lend a helping hand to anyone and never asked for anything in return.
He met his soulmate, Julie Patterson, while in recovery and they were married June 28, 2014 in Lansdowne, Virginia.
Surviving with his mother and his wife are children, Marley Isabella, Kaleigh Mae, Rylee Marie, and Tyler Allen Funkhouser; sister, Karen M. Funkhouser; and many loving family members including aunts, uncles, in-laws, and very dear, close friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Brad Hill officiating.
