Emma Jean (Barnett) Close, age 78, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Close was born in 1938 in Lee County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Lloyd H. and Virgie Rebecca Barnett. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to so many. She can be forever remembered for her love of faith, family and being truly devoted to those she loved. Jean had a heart of gold and was known for always speaking and saying only the kindest words to those around her, even if she was upset with you. She was an avid collector of angels and chicken figurines. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She married Lynn Carol Close on June 3, 1989 in Berryville, Virginia.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughters, Brenda Fairfax and her husband Johnny of Lignum, Virginia, Barbara Bright of Winchester, Virginia, Donna Romaine of Madison, Virginia, Debra Carter and her husband Scott of Culpeper, Virginia; son, Gary Bright of Stanley, Virginia; and her step-son, Dennis Close of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Ella Mae Tinsman and her husband Larry of Winchester, Virginia and Glenda Barnett of Culpeper, Virginia, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
A sister, Phyllis Odel and Alice Meredith as well as a brother, Jimmy Barnett, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 28, 2016, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM at Omps, South Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Miller officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
