Eunice Bucher
Eunice Bucher, 84, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Bucher was born in 1932 in Hampshire County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Lester Lee and Irma DeHaven. She was a graduate of Gainesboro High School and was an electronic specialist for the Navy Research Lab, Allied, and Honeywell before retiring in the late 1980’s. Eunice lived most of her life in the Northern Virginia area, however in retirement lived several years in Arizona and Florida. Her last residence was in Autumn Glen in Stephens City, Virginia prior to moving to Westminster Canterbury. She was a member of Stephens City United Methodist Church since 2002. Eunice volunteered with Meals on Wheels for the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging.
Her husband, Coleman Patrick Bucher, whom she married on December 29, 1953 at Salem Church in Frederick County, Virginia preceded her in death on April 4, 1970.
Surviving is a son, Timothy L. Bucher of Front Royal, Virginia; daughter, Stephanie E. Bucher Potts of Hamburg, Maryland; grandchildren, Patrick D. Bucher of Front Royal, Virginia and Nicholas A. Potts of Hamburg, Maryland; great grandson, Tyson D. Potts of Hamburg, Maryland; sisters, Wanda F. Householder of Hedgesville, West Virginia and Shelby J. Yeakley of Springfield, Virginia.
Along with her husband, Coleman, she was preceded in death by sister, Gay DeHaven and brother, Linwood DeHaven, and daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Bucher.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Kirk Nave officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia. A reception will be held following the interment at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Gerald “J.J.” Smith, Evan Smith, Kenneth DeHaven, Jerry Sirk, Patrick Bucher, and Jordan Salyards.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Householder, Nick Potts, Rodney Sherman, and John Salyards.
Memorial contributions in memory of Eunice may be made to Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging Meals on Wheels Program, 207 Mosby Lane, Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
