Jason R. Cates, 41, of Cross Junction, Virginia, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Cates was born in 1975 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of James and Dawn Cates of Jacksonville, FL. Jason was a graduate of Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, FL and attended ITT Technical Institute in Jacksonville, FL. He was a Network Operator for Boeing. Jason was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He was formerly a member of the American Legion in West Virginia; enjoyed hiking, loved to be outside, and liked to just get in the car with his wife and drive. Jason liked Medieval and Renaissance festivals and everything that was associated with them. He enjoyed history and was a civil war and American history buff. He enjoyed gardening and loved to cook – trying new and different recipes. His greatest passion was spending time with his children and had a special connection with each daughter, he could always make them laugh.
Jason married Danielle M. Runk on March 7, 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife and parents are his four daughters: Kailynn Echt, of Jacksonville, FL, Savannah, Alexis and Zoie Cates, all of Cross Junction; grandson, Killian J. Macsko of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Brienne (Jerry Dunn) and Tara Cates (Jared Yackee) of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA.
