Joan Whitaker was my son Brian's 2nd grade teacher at Apple Pie Ridge School. Thanks to Mrs. Whitaker, this was a very happy and productive year for Brian and the other students fortunate to be in her class. There was a special feeling of being with a teacher who was kind, interesting, and intent on helping her students achieve their best as 2nd graders. God bless teachers like Mrs Whitacte who made learning a happy and rewarding experience. May God give solace and comfort to her family and loved ones.

I am saddened at the passing of Joan. She was my colleague at Apple Pie Ridge for many years, and I always enjoyed kidding around with her. One thing I remember about Joan is when one of her second grade students would come to school looking especially nice and spiffy, Joan would say, "Are you getting married?" It would always bring a smile to that student's face. She will be missed.

Marie left a message on January 21, 2017:
My sincere condolences to the family of Joan Whitacre. Death is something we will never get use to, in fact, the Bible refers to death as an enemy because it hurts all of us deeply. (1 Corinthians 15:26) God wants us to be able to see and enjoy the company of our loved ones again in a healthy condition (Isaiah 33:28) and for countless generations of time. He promises a time where no family will ever have to mourn the death of a loved ever again at Revelation 21:3,4. This is why we are promised a similar resurrection like Lazarus at John 11:14, 38-39, 43-44. May the memories of Joan bring you a sense of peace and joy as you begin to heal; and, may God’s promises bring you hope that things will be better in the near future.
