Kimberly Dawn Carrington, 52, of Strasburg, VA, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2018, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
She was born in 1966, in Winchester, VA, to James R. and the late Mary W. Markle. Kim graduated from James Wood High School in 1984 and from James Madison University in 1988, with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school in the Shenandoah County School system for many years.
Kim was a kind and generous person who loved her family, especially her grandchildren, those in need and always rooted for the underdog. She loved her two pet dogs. She was a member of the Strasburg Moose Lodge, the American Legion and several other service organizations.
Kim married Zachary Glenn Carrington on June 19, 1989, in Winchester, VA. She is survived by three daughters, Georgia Dawn Carrington (partner, Cody Pieratt) of Front Royal, VA, Sabrina Lynn Carrington (partner, Mark Ratcliffe II) and Marylyn Francis Carrington, both of Strasburg; two step-children, Julie Carrington Lozinski (Troy) of Martinsburg, WV and Donny Carrington of Athens, GA; grandchildren, Avalia Pieratt and Oakley Ratcliffe; in-laws, Lynn and Mary Cameron of Front Royal, VA; as well as her father and his wife, James and H. Kim Markle of Winchester, VA.
Along with her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Zachary Glenn Carrington.
Kim was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Frederick County, VA.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Phil Brumback officiating.
A graveside service will take place following the service at 1:00 PM at Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg, VA.
Serving as pallbearers for Kim will be Cody Pieratt, Mark Ratcliffe II, Byron Miller, William Rutz, Greg Orndorff, and Troy Johnson.
