Lloyd R. Wright, 89, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Wright was born in 1929 in Ferndale, Michigan, the son of the late Glenn E. and Jessie P. Wright. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and later earned a Master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Wright was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam era, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring. He loved sports, especially college football and the NFL. During his high school and college years he was quarterback for the football team.
Mr. Wright had a passion for playing golf as often as he could and once retired, he loved taking cruises with his late wife, Mary Lou.
His wife, Mary Louise Wright, whom he married December 27, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan, preceded him in death in 2003. Along with his parents and wife, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Jean Wright.
Surviving are daughters, Roberta Levi (Paul) of Round Hill, Virginia and Mardi McDaniel of Huntsville, Alabama; and grandchildren, Zachary McDaniel of Huntsville, Alabama and Hannah Levi of Round Hill, Virginia.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Huntsville, Alabama. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
