Mary “Snookie” A. Marshall Carter, 70 of Winchester, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 peacefully at her home.
Mary was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y. , the daughter of the late Alice and Thomas C. Marshall. She was a graduate of John Jay Junior/Senior High School and Westchester Business Institute where she received an Executive Secretarial Diploma. Mary was a caregiver with Home Instead Senior Care. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to Charlestown Casino, playing Candy Crush and collecting Betty Boop memorabilia.
Mary is survived by her husband of 36 years, William V. Carter, her son Charles Marshall of Danbury, Connecticut, her daughters Shawana Marshall of Winchester, Virginia, Valecia Goodnow and son-in law Michael of Syracuse, New York, a brother Thomas C. Marshall Jr. of Durham, North Carolina , grandchildren Qiana and Iziah Wedlock of Winchester Virginia, nieces Veronica Taylor, Channing Marshall and nephew Brian Marshall of Durham, North Carolina.
Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Pearl Crawford and Judy Marshall.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chappel, with Mr. Darius Boles officiating.

My prayers are with our families.

I love and miss you dearly. I will always keep you in my thoughts and one day we will meet again. I love you.

I use to work with Mary at Kroger in Winchester. She was a very special person and loved everyone around her. I also worked with her daughter Shawana. Those were the good ole days at Kroger!!! She will be greatly missed by all. Love, Judy Grim

I thank God for the life of our beloved Mary Alice, aka ," snooky," who shared the first name with me thru our blessed aunt Mary who named both of us and always made us feel we were so special. Mary Alice and I developed a special bond thru several phone conversation. Some time life have a way of keeping the spirit alive and well enough to survive a great and wonderful relationship even if not always in the physical presence of each other. We were blessed to have such. I will miss the holiday phone calls discussion on what type of cake were made and when we will finally visit in person. As well as playing catch up on family known and unknown. I pray God will give you wisdom and strength to help in your pain in the name of Jesus. I feel her spirit will always Be with us and I pray God will give you wisdom and strength to help in your your healing in the days ahead. Know you are loved my dear cousins and my prayers are with you. So sorry I am not able to be there in the celebration of her beautiful life. Please remember we will all see our love one again if we have Faith and keep God first to direct our path one day at a time this day forward. Blessings and peace always, Cousin Mary E. Coleman.
