Mary Lucretia “Kish” Rickard, 76, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at her home surrounded by family.
Ms. Rickard was born in 1941 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Kemper Rickard and Mildred Clary. She retired from American Woodmark and was a member of Rest United Methodist Church. Ms. Rickard was a member of the Winchester Eagles Club Aerie #824 and recently received her 30 year pin. She was a bowler in different leagues, an avid Winchester Royals baseball fan and a fixture whenever they played. In her younger years she played softball for Cedar Grove Church League, enjoyed taking care of her lawn, her favorite color was red, and she volunteered with Toys for Tots.
Surviving along with her stepmother, Alice Rickard of Winchester, Virginia, is a son, Rodney Clark (Rita) of Winchester, Virginia; daughter, Robin Acome (Jeff) of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Dale Omps (Jenny) of Winchester, Virginia, Zachary Acome (Amy) of Sandy Creek, New York, Eric Acome (Ellie) of Boulder, Colorado, Richard Eaton (Renee) of Gore, Virginia, Justin Spaid of Winchester, Virginia; great grandchildren, Kemper and Korbin Omps of Winchester, Virginia, Maeve Foust of Boulder, Colorado, Tori and Jenna Eaton, Hayley, Peyton, Coltin and Wes Spaid; step-sister, Betty Johnson of Winchester, Virginia; cousin, that Mary considered a sister, Joyce Hausenfluck (Kenny) of Stephens City, Virginia; and sister-in-law, Kim Mowery of Winchester, Virginia; and numerous friends and extended family.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Robert Clark; brother, Stephen Rickard; and step-brother, Stephen Mowery and step-brother-in-law, Lester “Butch” Johnson, Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Rest United Methodist Church, 4713 Martinsburg Pike, Clear Brook, Virginia with a Memorial Service following at 2 pm with Pastor Tom Reynolds officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service at the Ruritan Building at Frederick County Fairgrounds.
For all that will be attending Mary’s service, please dress casual…wear your favorite sports team jersey (football or baseball) or wear Mary’s favorite color, Red.
