Marylyn “Lynn” Grove Travers, 85, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at Green Valley Commons Assisted Living.
Mrs. Travers was born in 1932 in Hagerstown, Maryland, the daughter of the late John W. Grove and Dorothy M. Anderson. She was a graduate of Stonewall High School, Class of 1950 and worked for Big A Auto Parts, retiring after 23 years of service. Mrs. Travers was a member of Red Hot Hatters, the AACA, the Shenandoah Valley & Queen City Chapters, the Winchester Moose, the Cotillion Dance Club, and the Stephenson Social Club. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. As a member of the church she was the singing voice for many weddings. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother that will be missed.
Mrs. Travers married George O. Travers on June 25, 1950 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Surviving with her loving husband of 67 years are daughter, Debby Combs (Don) of Cananadigua, New York/Ocala, Florida; son, Timothy Mark Travers (Teresa) of Inwood, West Virginia; grandson, Christopher Mark Travers (Laura) of Madison, Ohio; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Morgan and Creighton Wells Travers of Madison, Ohio; sisters, Carol Sue Lacy of Amelia, Virginia and Andrea Whittington of Annapolis, Maryland; and brothers, Joe Corderman of Foley, Alabama and Jay Grove of Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia; Chosen family, Nancy Wingfield, Connie Jackson, both of Winchester, Virginia and Daniel Boyce of Yellow Spring, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Dr. Ken Patrick and Reverend Barry Burkholder officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Boyce, Michael Jackson, Dennis Wingfield, Boyd Kilmer, Mike Witt, and Todd Bragg.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Golliday, Bill Sandy, Ron Hauser, Tom Rissler, Albert Lacy, Jim Lemmon, Sam Fauvable, Bob Kirk, Art Bragg, John Smallwood, Curt Twigg, and John Grove.
