Raymond “Ray” Piersy Wills, 92, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Wills was born in 1925 in Elon, Virginia, the son of the late Walter and Lena Wills. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and retired from the United States Department of Commerce. Mr. Wills was a member of the Lithographic Association, the Franklin Technical Association, the NARF (Native American Rights Fund), the American Legion, the Fleet Reserve, and the Disabled Veterans of America. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
His wife, Beverly McCabe Wills, whom he married on September 24, 1946 in Washington, D.C., preceded him in death in 2013.
Surviving is a brother, Walter Malcolm Wills and wife, Rachel of Lynchburg, Virginia; niece, Sheila Wills of Lynchburg, Virginia; late nephew’s wife, Sharon Wills of Mineral, Virginia; great niece, Mary Michael Cantrell (Kendall); great nephew, Cameron Wills; and great great nephews, Thomas and Wyatt Cantrell.
Along with his wife, Beverly, Mr. Wills was preceded in death by two sisters, Nell Wills Keith and Alice Wills; brother, Edward Wills; and nephew, Michael Wills.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11 am to 12 pm on Saturday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Winchester, Virginia; praying of the rosary at 12 pm, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm with Reverend Monsignor Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
