Richard “Rick” Lee Heisey, 66, of Winchester, VA, transitioned to the next step of his journey on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Rick was born in 1951 in Hershey, PA, to the late Jacob and Fannie Heisey, as the fifth of their seven children.
Rick graduated from Lower Dauphin High School in 1969 (Hummelstown, PA) and Messiah College in 1973 (Grantham, PA) and has worked at numerous places in Pennsylvania, Indiana and Virginia. He started his first woodworking business in 1981. He is known in the Winchester area and beyond as a master wood craftsman. Rick enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail, gardening, and sailing his little sailboat as times to worship. Spending time with his family and watching his nephew play professional baseball were great loves of his. He was very supportive of C-CAP, where he volunteered his services any way he could. Rick was a member of a men’s Bible study group for over 20 years. Rick was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather who will be missed.
Rick married Nancy Stoner on December 28, 1974 in Harrisburg, PA and they have two sons, Jared and Matthew (Brittney) of Winchester, VA; four grandchildren, Jayden, Rozlyn, Titan and Liam Heisey of Winchester, VA; brothers, J. Ray Heisey (Mim) of Orrstown, PA and James D. Heisey (Gloria) of Manheim, PA; and sisters, Shirley A. Frymire of Abilene, KS, Marilyn H. Byer (Eldon) of Tillsonburg, ON, and Carol J. White (John) of Oak Harbor, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Craig N. Heisey and his niece, Victoria Heisey.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA, 22601. Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Calvary Church of the Brethren, 578 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA, 22602.
