William Frank Reppert, 83, of Clear Brook, Virginia, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Blue Ridge Hospice.
Mr. Reppert was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, in 1932, the son of the late Gayle and Norman Reppert. Mr. Reppert was a veteran, having enlisted in the United States Army in 1950. He was a Paratrooper with the 82nd and 101st Airborne and was a Jumpmaster with 55 jumps to his credit. He served during the Korean Conflict and two tours during the Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous medals and badges during his service to include: the Vietnam Engineer Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal with five campaign stars, and the Bronze Star medal with oak leaf cluster. He achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer before retiring from Fort Campbell, Kentucky after 23 years of service. After his retirement from the military he went on to work for FEMA and retired from there in 1994.
Mr. Reppert was a member of Brucetown United Methodist Church.
He married Peggy Russell on January 3, 1959, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are his son, M. Scott Reppert of Warrenton, Virginia; daughters, Donna Fernandez and husband Gary of Springfield, Ohio, Lacinda Reppert of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Melissa Shade and husband Stacey of Charleston, West Virginia; grandchildren, Brandon Maxwell and wife Sarah of Blacksburg, Virginia, Brook Ilges of Clear Brook, Virginia, Benjamin Virnston of Fairborn, Ohio, Nicolas Shade of Richmond, Virginia, Hayden George of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Neal Cybulski of Richmond, Virginia, Haley George of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, William Reppert of Warrenton, Virginia, Hyatt George of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Chloe Shade of Clear Brook, Virginia; great grandchildren, Grace Maxwell, Hunter Maxwell, Amelia Maxwell, Noah George and sister-in-law, Marie Reppert.
His brother, Robert Reppert and a grandson-in-law, Jeremiah Ilges, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at Omps South Chapel on Monday at 12:00 noon with Pastor Yun officiating. Entombment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Reppert’s grandsons, Brandon Maxwell, Benjamin Virnston, Nicolas Shade, Hayden George, Neal Cybulski, William Reppert and Hyatt George.
