William “Bill” Marion Ashwood, 82, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center with his family by his side.
Mr. Ashwood was born in 1935 in Summit Point, West Virginia, the son of the late Arthur and Naomi Ashwood. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from O’Sullivan Corporation. Bill enjoyed taking care of his animals and all the strays that came along. He enjoyed watching the news on t.v., Chuck Norris in Walker Texas Ranger, and was an avid Redskins fan. Bill was always playing jokes on his grandchildren. His true passion was his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was of the Baptist faith. A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother that is loved and will be missed.
His wife, Doris Ashwood, whom he married on December 24, 1958 in Brunswick, Maryland, preceded him in death in 2005.
Surviving is a daughter, Terry L. Greene (Douglas) of Stephens City, Virginia; sons, Kevin W. Ashwood of Roanoke, Virginia and Scott A. Ashwood of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Brittney Lynne Greene-Dodson (Troy) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia and Autumn Dawn Ashwood of Wardensville, West Virginia; great grandchildren, Aubrieanna Grase-Lyn Dodson and Gannyn Allen Dodson; and sister, Janice Zinn.
Along with his wife, Doris, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Ashwood and Janie Gaynor; and two brothers, Ralph and Holmes Ashwood.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
