Doyle Edward Whittington, Sr., 87, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019, surrounded by family at his home.
Doyle was born in 1931 in Zepp, Virginia, the son of the late Lee and Frances Whittington. He was owner/operator of Doyle’s Equipment Service, Inc., which opened in 1980, with his beloved wife, Jean, by his side. With over 50 years of experience as a mechanic Doyle was a wealth of mechanical knowledge. It was not only his experience as a mechanic that made him one-of-a-kind, but his loyalty and honesty to all. Outside of the business he enjoyed deer hunting, boating, had a fascination with aircraft, and most of all, spending time with his family. Doyle was a member of Winchester Church of God.
Doyle married Willetta Jean Adams on September 26, 1952 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife of 66 years are sons, Doyle “Eddie” Whittington, Jr. and Dwain E. Whittington (Chelle); grandchildren, Gretchen and Bethany Whittington; sister, Velda “Patsy” Cox (Jack); brother, Warren Whittington (Joan); and many loving nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Malissa “Peggy” Whittington.
Doyle was very fond of his customers and considered many of them friends throughout his 39 years in the business. He and his family appreciate each and every one of you!
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 pm on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Darrell Waller officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doyle’s memory to The American Red Cross Blood Services, 561 Fortress Drive, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
