Helen N. Griffin, age 85, of Winchester, Virginia passed away peacefully on January 18, 2019.
She was born in 1933 to the late Herbert Isaac and Ossie Nolen. After graduating high school in Pavo, Georgia, she moved to Atlanta to attend business school. She then moved to Northern Virginia where she worked in a patent office in Washington, DC. After she had her son, she provided in home childcare for 25 years. She was dearly loved by all of the children she kept. After retirement, she moved to Winchester, Virginia to be closer to her son and his family.
Helen is survived by her only son, Robert L. Griffin, Jr., and his wife, Cristi Griffin; two grandsons, Jacob and Hunter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her five siblings: Cabot, Mobley, Myrtis, Mary, and Vivian.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Vernon Bray officiating. Following the service, everyone is invited to stay for a time of food and fellowship at the Omps Funeral Home Reception Center.
