Letha Crosen Marple, 88, of Stephens City, Virginia, passed away, Friday, September 25, 2009, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Marple was born in 1921, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Crosen. Mrs. Marple’s kindness was shared in many ways. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her gardening and flowers. In her past time, she grew and sold English boxwoods. In her earlier years, she enjoyed duck pin and ten pin bowling, as well as volunteering in fundraising for local organizations.
Her husband of sixty two years, Julian Baker Marple, Sr., preceded her in death on April 18, 2002.
Surviving is a daughter, Judith M. Swortzel and her husband, Robert of Winchester, Virginia; a son, Julian B. Marple, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia; a grandson, Jeffrey Chamberlin and his wife, Storm; a great grandson, Braden Chamberlin; two sisters, Alice Ostertag and Virgie Pitcock, both of Winchester, Virginia; and a brother, Frank Crosen of Frederick County, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Ellen Michael, Delma Whitlock, Frances Griffith and Esther Place; and three brothers, Calvin Crosen, Ralph Crosen and Albert Crosen.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Darrel Taylor officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Chamberlin, Joc Chamberlin, Robert Swortzel, Chase Cheshire, Odie Whittington and Connie Gregory.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
