Mary R. Jenkins, 91, daughter of the late Eva and Maynard Rogers, died on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Winchester Medical Center. Mary was a resident of Hilltop Assisted Living Home.
Mary was born in 1927 in Winchester. She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1945. Mary worked for Blue Ridge Electric Service as secretary/bookkeeper, retiring after 30+ years of service.
Mary had been a member of First Christian Church since 1940. At church she was a member of the Blosser Sunday School Class and served as a deacon and later became a deacon emeritus. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles and most of all, playing the piano.
Her husband, Robert Jenkins, whom she married in 1945 preceded her in death in 2016. They were married for 71 years.
Surviving are two daughters; Beverley Clark (Thomas) and Patricia Snapp (Larry) both of Winchester, VA; two grandchildren, Regan Hollis of Martinsburg, WV and Robert Clark of Winchester, VA; three great grandchildren, Tyler Allamong, Cody Clark and Zane Clark; and brother-in-law, Reginald Wilson.
Along with her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Wilson.
A visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6th, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Moulden of First Christian Church. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. A reception will follow the interment at First Christian Church, 75 Merrimans Lane, Winchester, VA.
