Shirley Rainsberger Boggs, 83, of Winchester, VA, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Green Valley Commons Assisted Living Facility in Winchester. Mrs. Boggs was born on September 20, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Marguerite Rainsberger.
She graduated from John Handley High School and from the Agape’ Bible Training Center in Winchester, VA.
Shirley worked at Doubleday in Berryville, VA, before joining the Southland Corporation team in October 1970, managing several High’s/7-11 Ice Cream & Convenience stores in Winchester and Clarke County during her career before she retired. She was handy at many crafts including scrapbooking, creating ceramics, and sewing. Shirley sewed costumes for the Apple Blossom Festival Pageant for many years.
She and her husband Jerry, whom she married on February 19, 1966 in Winchester, Virginia, were active members of the Good Sams Camping Club and the Top of Virginia Club. They enjoyed traveling the country after their retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Joseph Boggs and her brother William Douglas Rainsberger
She is survived by her two children, Anne Douglas Ambrose and her husband Bob of Middletown, VA, and Kenneth Michael Cooper and his wife Buffy of Winchester, VA; seven grandchildren, Dana, Ami, Staci, Debra, Matthew, Jonathan and Wesley; eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private.
