Stephen Alfred Voysey, 79, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Center.
Steve was born in 1940, in Upland, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Alfred Everett and Revilla Barr Read. He was a graduate of the University of Idaho obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree. Steve served in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War achieving the rank of Sergeant. Steve was a mechanical engineer, retiring from Bechtel Construction after 30 years of service. His work took him to various nuclear power plants in Hanford, WA, Savannah River, SC, Diablo Canyon, CA, Limerick, PA, Calvert Cliffs, MD, Rancho Seco, CA and in Mississippi. He also worked for Washington Public Power Supply System for a short time.
Steve was a PASS volunteer for Berkeley County, WV, played golf, loved going to the beach with his granddaughters, and enjoyed amateur stock car racing in his younger days. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Steve married Alice Mae Eller on May 10, 1969 in Milwaukie, Oregon.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Alice; his son, Christopher “Chris” Voysey (Dawn) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Michaela and Lillian Voysey, both of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; and one brother, David Voysey (Mimi) of Overland Park, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Duey.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Bible Church in the back, lower level, Winchester, Virginia. Pastor Charlie Spencer will be officiating. There will be a time of food and fellowship to follow the service at the church.
