Stuart Wellington Layton, 75, of Stephens City, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Layton was born in 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late Gordon and Ann Layton. He was a graduate of Towson High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Maryland. Mr. Layton was owner/operator of Layton’s Appliance Repair with his son, Chris, who continues to work in the family business. A lot of his customers became his friends and were very loyal to his expertise to repair a broken appliance. He was a member of the Stephens City Moose Lodge – Loyal Order of Moose #2483.
He married Wendy S. Higgins on September 11, 2004 in Stephens City, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are sons, Douglas E. Layton of Charlottesville, Virginia and Christopher A. Layton (Nicole) of Winchester, Virginia; stepsons, Travis and Jesse Higgins, both of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Hunter and Connor Layton of Charlottesville, Virginia; Isis and Lorelei Layton and Riley Foster, all of Winchester, Virginia; sister, Carol L. Howie (Tom) of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania; and mothers of his children, Lucia Fitzgerald and Beth Forsythe.
A visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, July 26th, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 pm. Interment will be private at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
