I wanted to post a memory of an Uncle that was not only handsome, dynamic, funny, loving to all of his family, but helped shape my career in a way when I was growing up by introducing me to Emergency Services. More importantly than how he shaped me, is what he did for everyone else, which is what he was all about. He sure made everyone laugh a lot too! My sister and I would leave the beaches of NC and go to Winchester EVERY summer, to spend time with family, for an entire month, and we LOVED it! I know you think, WHO leaves a BEACH to go to the VALLEY of VA? Beach babies do. :) Beach babies that LOVE their Winchester family, and we sure do! The older I got, the more he got me interested in emergency services, and I went on to become a Paramedic in my county for 30 years. I would tease him that the helmet on fire calls would mess my hair up, so I didn't go into the Fire Dept, I went into EMS. Barbara, Aimee, Tommy and all the rest of my family, I wish I could be there Friday. I am expecting another Grand baby any minute. Tommy sure is going to be in some GREAT company though! Know that I am there with you all in spirit and we will be making a donation to the FD in his name. I love you all!

Tommy was a wonderful person and friend. He was a true professional and consummate firefighter and officer. I had the privilege of growing up around Tommy at friendship fire company. He was always willing to help me learn the trade of firefighting . He loved his profession.

I grew up just a few houses from Tommy on Virginia Avenue and went to Virginia Ave. School with him from first grade. I remember that he was always kind to everyone and that his grandmother made homemade hot cinnamon candy apples for Halloween each year. What was so special was that they were only for the kids in the immediate neighborhood, and it made us feel special if we were on the list! May God comfort Tommy's family in their loss!
