Wilbert “Joe” Lineweaver, 93, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Lineweaver was born in 1925 in Jefferson, Virginia, the son of the late Burl and Grace Lineweaver. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Army, having served during World War II. Mr. Lineweaver worked as a machine operator at Abex Company, retiring after 32 years of service, where he was a member of the Union. In his younger days he loved going to the dirt track races at Winchester Speedway. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing horseshoes and croquet, and always enjoyed a good game of Penny Annie Poker. A helpful soul he was….always willing to lend a helping hand to anybody who needed one. But above all else, his greatest passion was spending time with his family and his wife…the love of his life. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
His wife, Anna Lee Lineweaver, whom he married on May 31, 1948 in Winchester, Virginia preceded him in death in 2015.
Surviving are daughters, Pam Wilkins (Eddie) and Teresa Couch (Brian); sons, Timmy Lineweaver and Ronnie Lineweaver (Cher); grandchildren, Shannon Hagans, Patrick “Michael” Clowser, Jr., Angela Dawn “Squirt” Lineweaver (Thomas Carroll), and Kristy Lynn “Killer” Donohoe (Dave); great grandchildren, Misty Roles (Bubba), Hailey Hagans, RaeAnna Allen, and Athena Clowser; great, great grandchildren, Serenity Day, Destin Hagans, Tamrynn Anderson, MaKenna Thurston, Avah Jones, MaRyla Roles, and Laney Roles; and his stepbrothers, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Charlotte Palmer, Katherine Smith, and Glenna Ewing; and brothers, Carl and Bud Lineweaver.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be at 1 pm on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Will White officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to Winchester Medical Center, 1840 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
