Henry Irvin Snider, Sr.
Henry Irvin Snider, Sr., 84, of Frederick County, VA passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Snider was born in 1931 in Wardensville, West Virginia, the son of the late Henry I. Snider, Sr. and Georgieanna Hott Snider. He was a graduate of Romney High School, Class of 1950. Mr. Snider was a veteran having served in United States Army during the Korean War achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. Henry was employed as a clerk with United States Postal Service until his retirement after 32 years. He was a devoted and active member of Refuge United Methodist Church in Stephens City, Virginia. Henry was a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy great-granddaddy and even a great-great granddaddy. He will be forever remembered for his faith, his love of his family and friends as well as working in his woodshop, gardening and hunting. Henry’s family said he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Snider married Myrna L. Heare on October 8, 1952 in Rock Oak, West Virginia.
Surviving with his wife of 63 years are sons, Henry I. Snider, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Chesterfield, VA, Galen E. Snider and his wife Sandra of Winchester, VA, Mark W. Snider and his wife Phyllis of Stephens City, VA, and Jeffrey A. Snider and his wife Stephanie of Powhatan, VA; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Snider was preceded in death by sister, Jeanette Godlove; two infant twin sisters and a granddaughter, Megan Milhon.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 30, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor John Lock officiating. Military Honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post #2123. Interment will follow in Hotts Chapel Cemetery.
