Virgil Davis, 88, of Clear Brook, Virginia, died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Davis was born in 1927, in Maysville, West Virginia, the son of the late Rachel and Isaac Davis. He was a veteran having served with the United States Army.  He was a retired Machine Operator with Crown Cork and Seal in Winchester, Virginia. Virgil was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be remembered for his love of the great outdoors, his creative woodcrafts and his famous storytelling. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He married Betty Boden Keckley on September 5, 1987 in Clear Brook, Virginia.

His first wife, Leora Landis Riggleman Davis preceded him in death in 1986.

Surviving with his wife are a step-son, Walter F. Keckley, Jr. of Winchester; two step-daughters, Martha Sites, Mary Ann Williams and husband, Ronald all of Stephens City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his sister, Maxine Heavner and husband, Mason, of Petersburg, West Virginia.

Virgil was preceded in death by four step sons from his first marriage Denver, Lawrence, JR and Gene Riggleman as well as four sisters and four brothers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00—3:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Yun Chol Kim officiating.  Interment will be in Gainesboro Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia.
