Linden Elroy “Lindy” Bohrer, Sr., 85, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Evergreen Health & Rehab. Mr. Bohrer was born in 1933 in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Elden and Elsie Bohrer. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Bohrer retired from National Fruit Products and was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Baltimore, Maryland. He played many string instruments, such as the fiddle, mandolin, and bass guitar and always looked forward to Friday Night Band Sessions. Mr. Bohrer stocked local ponds with fish and loved cats.
His wife, Lawanna Bohrer, whom he married in 1979 preceded him in death.
Surviving is a daughter, Karen Steves; sons, Alvin Lee Bohrer and Linden Elroy Bohrer, Jr. (Jennifer A. Shirley), all of Frederick County, Virginia; grandchildren, Laura Sue Ohman (Ryan) and Jessica Bohrer of Winchester, Virginia; Joseph Bohrer (Jennifer) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Tracey Griffin (Ryan) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; special nieces, Donna Youngblood and Lynette Jones, both of Frederick County, Virginia; and sister, Betty Ashburn (Bill) of Winchester, Virginia.
Along with his parents and wife, Mr. Bohrer was preceded in death by a son, William Lee Bohrer and a sister, Shirley Youngblood.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Phil Brumback officiating. Interment will be in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lindy’s memory to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
